With no way to know when or if Dansco will be supplying the 7070 US Type set album do you think buying the Intercept Shield type set (#30270) makes sense. Just tired of waiting for the 7070 album. I know Whitman has one but seems less complete. Any other albums worth looking at. Thanks all

I have a 7070 and in it I have the IS gold page. There is a notable difference in quality with the IS page being thinner and the slides being thinner as well, but it certainly does the trick. There are other options out there like Whitman blue, Whitman bookshelf, Littleton, Library of Coins, and all of them have their upsides and downsides. I'm partial to the Dansco brand and quality.

I've seen a small coin shop carrying the 7070 and doing so for normal price (~$35), which could be worth calling around.

There is an old topic on here of a user comparing the 7070 and IS album http://goccf.com/t/242296)

To quote GR58 directly from that topic:

My thoughts on the two albums.

I like them both.

Dansco, seems to be a little better quality.
The pages are a little more heavy duty
and the slide are a little thicker.
Also, I think the coins fit a little better.

Intercept Shield, Nothing wrong with how it looks.
I like the extra coins they have added. The slip
cover does get dinged easier than the Dansco slip
cover. Right now the IS album is easier to purchase
than the Dansco.

As far as which would preserve the coins better,
this is my second 7070, some of these coins have been
in a Dansco for over 30 years, with no problem.
My guess would be the IS will do as well.

Not familiar with the non-Dansco versions, but from what I could see in the other thread the contents of the Intercept Shield album are exactly the contents of the Dansco album plus a bunch of post-2002-ish types to bring it slightly more up to date. This notably means that they repeated Dansco's uncomfortable peculiarities (e.g. 1909 VDB cents being their own type, no entry for the With Rays quarters and halves).

From what I've heard of Whitman it's actually a little too complete - has stuff like 1793 chain cents and 1796 quarters. Might be misremembering though.
[EDIT: I was, in fact, misremembering; their album in fact only covers types back to the late 19th century. It must have been someone else who did an inconveniently complete one.]

Littleton is the 19th Century Type Set album that contains the ridiculously expensive Draped Bust coins.
