okay this may make me sound a little silly but I'm going to admit it anyway.....try not to judge. lol I bought "for my daughter" an eye clops toy. it hooks into your television and zooms in at 200x magnification. so depending on the size of your television its an awesome way to look for varieties and errors and such. Now, since then I have noted on their website that they have a cool little handheld thing that will actually save your images to the computer which would be really awesome when trying to post pics. dont know what the new thing (bionicam) costs but I paid $21.00 canadian for the bionic eye. http://www.eyeclops.com/

When my eyes and a magnifying glass aren't enough, I stick it on the scanner and ramp up the resolution. It normally tells me what I need to know.

i like to use the Digital Blue QX5 digtial microscope connects to computer via USB port.allows veiwing in real time and downloads pictures directly to your computer.APX.$95.00 USD. con: stock microscope LED light is insufficient and needs to be 'customized and supplemented (for better pictures).

I use a 30x36 magnifier for quick viewing and a regular microscope for close ups, which I set my camera on and take pictures. Just order a 40x magnifier, hope it works a good as the 30x does.

Camera onto computer then use a good viewing (non-lossless, not windows picture viewer which loses information) program and zoom in.

I do like the bionic eye. Just might get one, but I'd have to take a week off work to sit 24 hours a day looking through everything....which might not be bad at all. Gotta laugh at Frankie Munoz looking at salt on their website, heh.

I bought a BIONIC EYE and took it back within a day or two to TOYS-R-US. I thought I could use it with my PC but it is only good if you want to mess with it on a TV screen. I am especially interested in seeing some images of what ceaton sees with that little handheld microscope. Combo 60-100X& 30X Illuminated LED Microscope MagnifierMaybe you can only view with it. It looks like a tight squeeze for the coin to go under the viewer. The price looks nice though, I'm watching it now on ebay.

Mike,
I dont really have the ability to take pics from the microscope :( You do not have to use the stand at all, simply pick up the unit and hold the coin or 2x2 against it (carefully of course) and adjust the focus. Its really simple to use and my god can you zoom in! I just use the little stand as a holder :) Works great for me.
