I recently acquired a PMG 66 1929 Test note. Haven't taken the time to read up on these. I just thought it was cool and it was inexpensive. Any thoughts on collecting these?

Nice example!

Seems like it would be a fun theme to collect.

The American Bank Note Company printed these in the 1980s to test a security strip embedded in the note. I've seen green face and black back examples as well as black face and green back examples. I've even seen sheets. I've never heard why they used a 1929 series date though. They come up for auction and sale often. I bought one many years ago just to say I have one. My example.

Those are pretty cool. I'd get one if I saw them.

I believe the center portrait used is an anonymous allegorical engraving, which the ABNC used often to depict Science, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Commerce and a host of different subjects.

The vignette is Liberty. Her pole is not in the picture but she is definitely wearing her Phrygian cap.
