A few good fakes are around, but even the best fakes are easy to pick out.
You are in a position to do a comparative ring tone against another known genuine
ASE.
If you are a silver stacker, you will never go far wrong, if you stick to
ASE basic
ASE's, because you can do the above test at the point of sale. Take your own known genuine
ASE along with you, if you have to, just as a precaution that the seller doesn't volunteer one of his genuine
ASE's for the test.
Also works well, for all normal American silver coins, such as silver Dollars and Halves.
I have tested the
whole of my silver stack with the ping tone test- in my case, all junk silver.
