Hi I'm new too this site. I'm LouLou78 from AZ. So while looking through some of my change that has caught my interest I came across what looks like a dime EXCEPT... it's not reeded and the rim is deep. Note I remember watching a video on YouTube a while ago about a dime on a cent planchet, but I can't find anything about it when googling it. So I was wondering if anyone else had either seen one, has one, or knows anything about one.... it's a 1994 D dime not reeded smooth around and the rim is very different like coin is sunk in but not as if someone purposely did it or just went through the ringer, yet more of a look like it had been this way from start. Can anyone help me figure this one out? Thanks

Another possibility since you mention it has a deep rim is that someone may have started making a ring out of it. Usually, larger denominations are used because of the amount of material needed.

I agree with early stage Dryer Coin.
Put it on top of a regular dime and the diameter should be slightly smaller.

I agree with the Dryer Coin hypothesis. The reeding has just been worn flat.

Some may wonder what we mean by Dryer Coin. It is not the home units that do this, it is the commercial units that alter the coins.

From that much of a fall it is like someone hitting the edge of the coin with a spoon. The home units don't drop them from that high of a fall.
The longer the ride, the more damage to the coin.
