Unfortunately, this actually appears to be a coin that was plated with gold. Great coin to keep as a curiosity! Nice find

If it was missing it's copper coating it would be a zinc colour, not gold.
As stated yours has been plated.

Hmm, a zinc coin electroplated in copper by the Mint, only to be plated yet again in cold..
But definitely plated.
