Hi, I'm a newbie in the medieval Coin World although I'm a history teacher. I'm interested in the medieval hammered coins, specially from western europe. I want buy a Lithuanian medieval coin from 1558, half groat, silver. The cost is 30€ but the real value is near 8-15€. Even I like the coin and I want buy it. But my question is: is a original coin? Here the images. Thank you all. Pd: I cant upload the photos, even they have low resolution.

@elc, first welcome to CCF. As our mission is education, it is always nice to have teachers join our community. With respect to your Lithuanian Half Groat, I note that there are many choices of dates in that series. If you are not stuck specifically on 1558 and are patient, you might find a coin closer to your target price.

The value of any coin will vary according to the grade (condition). On MA-shops there are 3 1558 Lithuania half groats for sale now. The one in lowest grade is 16 euro, and there are two in better grade for about 30 euro. I think these are all fair prices, and these are all authentic coins. https://www.ma-shops.com/shops/sear...arch&lang=enAs mentioned by @spence, if you are open to other dates, you may find a better price.

Thank you! But as the shipping costs are so expensive to Finland, I'm trying to get an opportunity here although sometimes I buy in ebay. I'm here for learn from experienced people. Also I'm available for all kind of questions about world history, specially Ancient and Medieval!

@elc, as ma-shops generally has EU-based shops (as opposed to USA-based shops), do you find the shipping acceptable, or are you really looking for Scandinavian shops? I don't have a good feel for shipping within the Euro zone vs. from the outside.

US shipping (from USA to EU) is even cheaper than buy in UK or some European countries. The best auctions are in Austria, Germany, Italy, UK and this mean for me at least 15-20€ minimum shipping. US has good items but sometimes overpriced.
Pd: someone know how to upload photos here? I know, but I couldnt because the phone s photos are heavy.
