Hey all,
While looking through my change tonight I came across this 1985p nickel with, what appears to be, decent clashing on both the obverse and reverse. I have found a good amount of error coins, in circulation, in my area as of the last 6 months or so. Someone must be pushing them out because most are older, 80s, 90s, early 2000s, not new coins. I find these types of errors often in my change from the local market. I received this nickel today in change. I'm still having trouble identifing the DDO/R coins but I'll keep swinging away at them until I get the different types understood. I like hunting through circulated coins, received in change, for errors much more than purchasing someone elses find. I figured that I would share with the community.
Thanks,
Coindom76

I see a slight clash line to the left side of the dome. But that is all. This is minor, but still a clash.

Yes, that is the most visible clash area on the reverse unless you zoom in on it. It is very faint on the obverse but it is there.
Thanks as always coop.

Just as there are varying degrees of acne, the strength of a die clash can vary as well. As this one is not a strong one, one that was posted the other day was stronger:
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
This one is a strong one, not the areas near the building?

But there is a stronger example that I had shared with me years ago that I call a monster die clash:
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
Note the clash date on this image above.
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
1985-P-Jefferson-Nickel-/-Die-Clashing-On-Obverse-And-Reverse
Probably the only one with a die clash on the date. I feel this is a monster die clash.

Wow coop,
Thank you for sharing and describing the differences in the degree that clashes can vary.
This happens when dies are struck together accidentally without a planchet in the press?
That is a strong, monster die clash coop. The 1984p shared yesterday is the strongest clash that I have in my collection to date.
