One of the reasons I started this thread was to avoid letting one from slipping away for lack of knowledge.
A case in point is an example of a 1929
DDO FS-1929-101 that I found in a 15 year old book stolen at a yard sale for $ 5.00. :)
This book, entitled 'The Complete Guide to
Buffalo nickels' 3rd edition by David W. Lange showed very detailed Fivaz/Stanton photos w/ PUPs to nail the variety.
I found this to be a useful way to cherry pick slabbed Buffalos on
ebay or at local auctions.
An example of a very high MS 65 grade sold at Heritage for $660.00 on Aug. 18th, 2019. The current non variety price from Numismedia's web site is just $ 250.00 etc.
I found this variety when searching previous auction sale prices using Worthpoint. This is not an endorsement for them but a true statement of how I can avoid wasting my time searching multiple web sites for the same coin.
