During the next Alliance Coin and Banknote auction (30 Sept) a beaded twoonie is going to be offered. To my knowledge, this is the first time this twoonie variety will be publicly auctioned. It is PCGS certified low AU. (Pic from the press release). Auction link will be available in a couple of weeks. No. This coin is not mine.

Very good questions, post security marks. So it would have had to be around for a while. If it's gotta be an inside job lol.

1996, most of us believe it" some kind of test, prototype, or pattern of the initial toonie, interesting to read the RCNA article

This is the first time I have seen or heard of this variety. I look forward to reading the article. I think our local coin and stamp club gets the RCNA journal, but will it be posted on the RCNA website as well?

If someone wants to own a complete set of circulation twoonies, this coin is the key one. It is one of the 3 varieties dated 1996: German, Canadian and beaded. There's just a handful of them around, 4K is a fair price today, I like to think that it will be considered a bargain in the future.
