Personally, I don't hate ICCS. I love it but probably for the wrong reason as I have an extensive collection of very "funny" certificates. How about a "VF20 Red" or a "Specimen Winnipeg"? How about certified (and graded) forgeries and etc etc etc? Yes. I have all those coins and more.
Yes, I can hear people defending ICCS. Yes they fill an ecological niche . but you know, there are niches and niches.
While dealers and collectors don't care about learning how to grade, ICCS (and all other grading companies) make tons of money offering nothing but an opinion in exchange. Some grading services offer guarantees but that is not the case of ICCS who offers nothing but a flimsy plastic envelope, with "just an opinion" printed in the label. And what an opinion it is.
