It has the look of a strikethrough, but the "strikethrough" stops at the bust of Washington. By the surrounding damage and marks, I will say PMD. I would like to see more images with a variety of lightings to verify whether it is mint or post mint damage.

Is the area raised or incuse? Die chips are normally raised. Strike throughs are incuse. From the pictures it looks like scratches on the coin. The scratches case marks that push the metal up on the edges of the scratch.
Some close up pictures or a picture at a slight angle might help identify.

to the CCF Looks like a minor Struck Through. Not really prominent enough to add any extra value.

Stuck through grease/oil/water with grit in the mix. Pretty murky strike. Not a plus for the coin. More of a distraction than a plus.

thanks for the responses so far. I oculdnt decide between die break or strikethough myself so that all helps.. now I am curious though if this is not considered prominent enough what would qualify at minimum as such? and further given its unique location and in my opinion bearing a striking resemblance to a facemask does anyone else see potential as a desirable roundness item at alll?

If the mouth and nose were missing is say you could call it a face mask but there isn't really any missing details.

More of a negative for value. (unless you find someone willing to pay more) but to me I would consider this one a spender, or an education piece to show to a new collector.

This is a a minor Struck Through that are not too uncommon. Don't forget, that would not be the only one like this. Usually to have a bigger premium, at least 75% of the area has to be covered.(Maybe coop will show show pictures he has on file) Location doesn't really matter as a Struck Through can be anywhere on a coin.

This appears to be a field-restricted struck-through error. Such errors occur when the feeder/ejector deposits a gritty paste on the field portion of the die.
