Howdy friends ! Please take a moment and share your thoughts
1939 5C double struck in collar, a closeup of the date shows just
enough rotation to overlap the nines...or so I imagine.
thanks everyone for your time.

Can we see the reverse? It definitely looks like a double strike, although some counterfeits have been made using a cast die to apply the second strike.

If it's legit, it's a fantastic coin. Double strikes in the collar seem to be far more common on Lincoln cents than on other denominations. How did you acquire it?

I see so many different strikes....more than just 2. If this is authentic, then that's an absolutely incredible find. However, I find it highly unlikely that this is authentic and not fabricated. Pictures of the reverse will tell us more.

As stated, we need to see a photo of the reverse also.
I have questions on this that a photo of the reverse may answer.

Seeing the reverse will help us determine if the coin is a striking error, or a coin damage issue, or an alteration on the coin.

Having a view of each side keeps the guessing out of the determination.

Looks certainly interesting. As others have stated it'd be great to see the reverse.

Hmmm, I'm curious.

If this is real, it has at least 3 extra strikes. with everyone else, we could use a reverse photo.

Looks more like a single strike with slide doubling?:
http://www.error-ref.com/?s=push+doubling
But closer images and both sides of the coin would be more help.

It is curious that the outer devices do not show as much rotation.

Doubt it's slide doubling based on the rotation, Coop

Note Mike Diamond's comment on this site.

Quote:

Slide Doubling
Definition: In this form of doubling, a die drags itself through the newly-struck design, smearing the features. Strong cases of slide doubling are always restricted to the face struck by the hammer die. After reaching the lowest point of its downstroke, the hammer die shifts to one side without bouncing. As it drags itself across the newly-struck design, it piles coin metal into a series of ridges. Weak cases of slide doubling found on the reverse face have previously been assigned to "ejection doubling", but there is no way to prove that this is actually what happened.
