Hello Everyone, I posted a few days ago about a Nero coin which the site seems to confirm is authentic. I found these coins in the same shop today. Most of these, and the Nero coin, are priced around $30. Not much, for sure, and certainly not priced where anyone is scamming for big money if these are fake. Any thoughts? I did not get weights, but they are smaller than the 28mm Nero I posted. The silver colored coin is well struck, I know that much. The coin with the woman's head looks molded to me. At least, based on what I have read. thanks again!

Both are fake. The Philip I is a good fake, but the style, especially of the lettering is enough for me. A genuine Philip I for comparison - not how tight the legend is within the die border

Thank you! I spotted these as a fake, but wanted to test myself by confirming here. I passed on these. This is the same seller I bought a likely authentic Nero coin from.
How about the other coin? the one with the woman's face? I think it is cast. I noticed what looks to be some surface bubbling.

Here is an exact match for your Phillip coin in the FORVM fakes database. I'd agree that the second coin is a cast fake. And frankly, I'd highly doubt that any coin sold by the seller of these two coins would be genuine. Guilt by association: very, very few people sell genuine and fake coins from the same shop. So your Nero coin is most likely fake, too.

The link did not work. These are not actually sold at a coin shop; they are sold at a consignment store that sells all sorts of things; they have a few coins from time-to-time. Here is a pic of the Nero I posted under another thread. I do not know, for a fact, they were sold by the same consignor, but these two coins appeared shortly after I bought the Nero. As a very amateur collector, these two coins JUMP out as being fake. The Nero far less so. What do you think? The Nero fits the size (28 mm and 8.67 g) of an authentic example and is not screaming 'fake' like these two. As a layman, I can tell the one coin posted above is cast and the strike on the Phillip is way, way too solid, coin too light, etc.

Not sure why but the link still brings me to an error.
A friend thought the lettering on the Philip might be from a middle eastern mint. I disagree and think it is fake

They are having problems with external links. I have brought the images here for comparison instead.

Thanks for the images.
What do you think of the Nero coin I posted?
