Thanks for any and all help you fine lovers of the coin can pass my way.

I'm curious about 2 things (and anything else yall might notice that I didn't):

1. What is causing the discoloration and

2. On a quarter as new as this (a 2018 Block Island), what
cause the lettering along the top of the obverse quarter
to be worn down so much.

Slight environmental toning, but otherwise looks pretty normal to me.

Just think about how many transactions that coin has gone though in the last 3 years....No one could say for sure how the lettering got worn....

I don't think it's a die chip. It looked more like something that size got banged against it and made an indention.
