1. Order coins 2. Receive coins 3. Deposit coins in bank Sell it for a low premium of $2 per roll 4. Transfer $$ to checking account 5. Pay credit card bill at end of month from savings acct oh... it's PayPal debit... I still get 1%! 6. Receive cash back from CC7. Receive interest on savings acct <--- oh... is this why you use savings account? 8. Buy more 9. Rinse and repeat hmmm... it still hasn't been shipped yet...

This is what I have found with the direct shipment program. When I order Early I get all P mint marks. When I place an order latter I get D mint marks.

Does the bank ever complain about someone depositing 20,000 coins?

It's limited to each president/design. So, if the mint has it, you can get 2x Washington, 2x Adams, 2x Jefferson........... 2x Sacs

Quote: oshelt: "so far the quality of the strikes is horrorendous....." The 2009 coins you get through the Direct Ship program are business strikes sold for face value, unlike the premium-quality (and premium-priced) Uncirculated-grade 2003-2008 Sacagaweas. That means high speed presses and dumped into Kevlar-bag pallets.... (thus, some bag marks even on the nicest examples) I bought 50 of the 2009 Native American dollars in person from the Denver Mint on Jan. 9th (the first day of release). 35 of them were very nice (by business strike standards), and the other 15 I put in my 'car wash' Dollar coin tube. I would say that in the case of the Denver Mint, the 'first batch' of business strikes is usually inferior to the later batches.

If you mean the coins sold in the rolls and roll sets at $35 a roll with the nice US Mint paper wrappers, those are the exact same business strikes from the high speed presses and shipped to the rolling facility in those same balistic bags and dumped into the rolling machine.

I ordered two kennedy rolls on 1/06, they were shipped on the 14th, I got them the 22nd. I haven't opened the box but the P&D rolls were ordered.

I forgot to mention -- my shipment was 'D' minted dollars, too -- even though I live in Virginia and the coins were shipped from PA. I made it through all 500 and found nothing of interest as far as errors or die varieties. I ended up with less than 10 that I considered a high enough grade to be worth keeping.
I've also done my part in spending many of them at retail stores and what not -- I'm not just cashing all of them in at the bank. On a couple of occasions, I've had to explain the coin to the cashier and persuade them that it was a real US coin. So far, everyone has accepted them.

Well make sure you don't tell the IRS about this if you get audited! Bc it will be considered taxable income. I am pretty sure they will take the view that you bought the coins below face value, which is tax income.
They also think you should track the coins you find on the ground and pay taxes on that too. :) I actually had a test question in my undergrad tax class about a guy finding a $100 bill on the ground during the year.... a lot of people in the class didn't think it was taxable, but it is.

Yes, I did mean the Mint Set coins. On my last tour of the Denver Mint, I watched the Mint Set (satin finish) coins being pressed (on the smaller lower-speed presses) and packaged into the Mint Set packaging in their own dedicated area, north of the main area that houses the high-volume high-speed presses for the business strike coins. The 2003-08 Sac's for the Mint rolls and bags were struck in the main area on one of the big high-speed Schuler presses (which is now pressing the 2009 Native American dollars that I wash my car with!)
