1966 Nickel Word Error?

I initially thought the words were worn off on in good we trust but upon further inspection it looks like they were never there. Also there is a weird error by the pony tail. The back side seems normal. Any thoughts on this?

. Looks like an over polished die to remove clash marks,you can still see some between the ponytail and the 9.

The clash mark that runs through the '9' on the date, is probably a clue that the die was polished to remove clash marks on the obverse die. But they may have not noticed the clash near the '9' area. So as already mentioned it is probably just a clashed die example with die polishing removing the fields on the weakened devices areas. Probably more of these events also on the reverse?
