I'm curious to know if anyone here knows about this counterstamp on an 1814 8 reales piece. Have any of you seen this before? Can anybody translate the wording underneath the image? The picture appears to be a camel inside a triangle. I would assume this 8 reales piece made it to the middle east at one point? Perhaps something political? Perhaps an old tourist item?

The mark may be something like a Chinese "chop mark".

Actually that is Arabic script below the camel so this is most likely from an Arabic territory region.

The counterstamp could be from a "shroff" or money changer in the Arabic world.

Is it possible to pin point the time and location of when this stamp was done?

Is anyone able to translate the Arabic script?

Believe I saw this piece on ebay recently. Don't think I had ever seen it before (Bob?), but simply from observation/experience (let alone the "fabric" of the physical stamp itself), it's almost certainly a modern concoction (fake stamp). Numerous fabricated Islamic-world stamps of this general style have surfaced on 8 Reales (and others such as circulated Maria Theresa restrikes) over the past decade.
