I'm new to this so bare with me please, if I'm way off. I found this coin while going through my change. The eight in the date is half missing. I'm just not sure how? And could it be of any value? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Just damage from a coin counting/wrapping machine.
You can see where it has also damaged the "T" in TRUST.
It is quite common and holds no extra value.

Post strike damage, as per JimmyD--date digit clipped/hit by a mechanical device.
