I was reading back thru the threads and decided to post my 84. She's not as pretty as another posted. I'll apologize ahead of time if anyone finds it irritating that a newbie found this coin. Got her while searching rolls from one of my local banks last August. I've enjoyed all the coins you have posted in this forum back about 3 or 4 months, I'll keep digging thru the post to continue seeing what you've found. I am also new to coin collecting. I have really only been collecting for about a year now, and I found one in a circulated bank roll about 4 months ago. I had a thread posted with pictures name "lucky find". I have to say that bank rolls are a fun inexspensive way to find some good coins.

Excellent!
For seasoned roll searchers like myself, I know that I like to congratulate the person who makes the find!
There is nothing even remotely irritating about someone making a FUN discovery!
With all the great stuff I have found, I still have not yet found a 1984 Doubled ear cent! Even so, I am still thrilled when someone else hits a good one!
Have Fun,
Bill

Thanks guys. Bill I also enjoy seeing those DDO\R's & Errors that others continue to find. I also read the post of your 72-S DDO. Sweet find. And I gotta say I love this web-site. I'm learning more about errors just rolling thru old post and I continue to add to my database. I never even heard of lathe lines. Now it's another thing I look for. Happy Hunting Scott

Nice find! In my earlier years of roll searching, I also once found an AU '84 doubled ear in circulation... I still have it to this day. I also found a nice AU 1972 DDO once, but unfortunately I parted with it for $100 cash from a dealer at a coin show a long time ago... but hey, I was young at the time, and a hundred bucks was a lot of money then. Still is, I suppose :)

My observation is the "newbie" has the benefit of optimism and often finds things which others might consider unlikely. As one newbie to another (I have only begun collecting recently after all) I have found some incredible coins simply because I thought it was possible to find them--and I bothered to look. For example, I'm sure there are more 1998-S and 1999-S LMC proof close AMs--is anybody here looking?

I've been searching for one of these since the story about them broke in Coin World upon its discovery in 1984...and still haven't found one. I've been through at least 3,000 1984 cents with no luck so far.
