Wrekkdd Pillar of the Community Canada 3328 Posts	Posted 09/27/2021 09:55 am At first I though doubled die, but it is ridged and does no look like one at all IMO, thought damage but it seprates from the wing at the top of where you can see it, if the wing it self took a hit then the metal would be pushed in the opposite direction and there is no sign of a hit next to the the wing either. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/27/2021 10:49 am Looks like Machine Doubling. Note how it follows the exact curve of the wing and pushes the metal aside. On the 'WE' on the obverse you can see Machine Doubling there also. (even from a full coin shot I can see it) So post strike damage on those areas. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/27/2021 11:48 am It is pushed towards the wing. Thus the wave of metal moving over the wing. If we had a view on the tops of the devices, you should see that move there as well if it is Machine Doubling? (UN on United devices) If not, then it could be a die crack enlarging as the die is continued to be used. In fact looking at the bottom of the 'I' it does appear to be a light crack on that area. Either way it is not a premium for the coin. Either a striking event, or a die event. Report this Post to the Staff

I have a 2021 Canadian loonie with a nice die crack(no premium) bull I'll post it just because die cracks are more of a rare die event for me to see on Canadian coins. Though I don't look through many loonies so it could be more common on them,I also imagine they are really working the 2022 dies to make up for the low mintage sdue to covid.
