Newbie here. This mint mark seems thicker than others. Could this be a DD, something else, or nothing. Thanks for your help!

Looks like your mintmark took a blow, indenting the southwest corner of it. At least from the photos as presented.

This is a completely normal mint mark. The D mm has taken a hit by something which caused the flattened bottom serif. Nothing special here.

. Did you compare it to others of the same date and condition? Looks normal for the year to me, thickness wise.

Note the RPM page on Variety Vista:

The RPMs are not on the mintmark, but on the fields next to the mint mark. Note that they rise above the fields. Just as other RPMs show a spread look on the devices:
The coppercoins RPMs are the same way on their site, they have a few more.

One is a tilted serif example:

Your coin is showing coin contact in an area that wouldn't be a split serif.
