I just purchased my 7070 album Saturday and have 37 of the holes filled already. I take it that I'll need to get a blank page to put in the type 2 IHC (after 1886), 1982 and later Lincoln Cent (zinc), and the different nickels since 2004 to name a few.

Wow - that's a nice looking 7070!
How long did it take you to put it together? Which were the toughest coins?

Thanks to all. Ken, I don't think it will ever be finished because I keep upgrading it. The toughest coins to find trouble free were the Classic Head Large cent and the Liberty Seated dollars. The Bust coins, particularly the Half Dime, Dime, and Quarter took a while to find. I am just starting the Gold page also. The coins I upgraded to AU and BU I am going to list for sale on this forum. They are trouble free and accurately graded. Stay tuned.

I had a nice Classic head Large cent but had to part with it (long story) and I have to say they are very few and far between in problem free condition and I refuse to settle for a problem coin just because its almost the last coin I have to get. I found 5 of them in the grade range I am looking for this week but the lowest priced one is $4500.00 and I just can't swing that right now at this time so that hole may be there for a little while longer

I think I see myself going down the same road as you, Bryan and Okie! I've got my album close to complete with VF/XF coins or better but still have 7 spots to fill including the early copper and one of the two Seated dollars. These can be pricey and for some am only looking at certified because of counterfeits and just the $$$ involved. But, I am already eyeing several coins I already have for upgrades. It's a great set for learning major US coin types. Ken

I just completed my gold page yesterday! The final plug was a $20 Liberty. The coins to the side are the classic head quarter eagle and half eagle. I have them incased and velcroed to the back cover of the album, so they can be removed and the reverse viewed. I also need a $3 princess and a type 2 $1 gold to complete the gold type set that I', going for, but at least I have Dansco's portion filled out. There are several that are lower grade/cleaned that I will need to upgrade. BTW Okie, I absolutely LOVE your type set! Very beautiful! Especially the rainbow toned commemoratives! I am going for toned silver in the rest of my dansco as well, but I still have a long ways to go. Image: gold_type2.jpg76.76 KB Image: gold_type_rev2.jpg70.68 KB

Okie,
Beautiful 7070. I especially like your Capped Bust Half, Columbus and Pilgrim commemorative.
I love the toners.

Way to go Johnny. I have a ways to go on the gold page, but I bought my second gold coin yesterday at an auction. A 1913 Five Dollar Indian in AU-50. I also won a bid for a 1851 Three Cent Silver that look flawless to me. It was raw and labeled MS-65 on the holder. The coin has full mint luster, every feature is sharply struck, no wear on the large star ridges, small stars with full detail, full rims, and no marks. If it is indeed MS-65 or higher I got a very good buy. I bought it to replace the existing coin in my 7070 that is VF-30, but I may have to get this one slabbed before adding it to the album (first time for me to send one off). A MS-65 or higher coin would be very valuable.

Very nice Okie! Congrats on the purchases too. If we combined our sets, we'd have one heck of a type set. Are you going for a certain minimum grade for your set? It's hard to tell by the pics, but it appears that all of yours are all at least Very Fine, with the majority much higher. Do you buy most of your coins raw? Most of mine are, but I have began purchasing certified ones and then removing the inserts to store on the front cover. I started out with a minimum of VF, but have found that I want to go higher now. Most of what I'm missing now is the early copper and many the Seated coins, which will take a lot of work to build up to a nice set like you and Bryan have.

It's always inspiring to look at these sets. Right after I finish my JFK silver set I am going to start this one.
