Although this penny is dirty the reverse AM and designer initials can be seen.

Comments are welcome.

Thanks

In 1988 " Wide AM" is the normal cent. There was a 1988 with the FG initials being near the Memorial building rather than the normal far version, but with your cent, the initials in in their normal far position. Your cent is worth, well, 1 cent.

It is a RDV-005, normal for that year. Note the shape of the AME?

Easier to look at these differences than the 'FG'.

Is that the 89 style FG verses the 88 style FG? If the 89 reverse is on the 88 obverse, is that called a WAM so to speak?

Both will be Wide AM's as they Close AM wasn't created until 1992 for the 1993 cents. (started early in 1992 as a year variety.

Ok thanks to all that responded. I was under the impression that the shape of the G in FG was the determining factor.

It's one of them but yours does not have it. The horizontal that you see on the G is a die gouge or die scratch, more than likely and there is not vertical present on your G. I have come to the belief, that if you have to look at it for more than two seconds, it's probably not it.

If you find it, you will know. I have only found one "P" variety, no "D" yet.
