I just found this nickle on the ground and I was wondering if it was worth anything. I know it's an obverse error but that's about it.. Thank you ahead of time for your help.

That nickel did not leave the mint in that state - it was damaged intentionally by someone after it was released into commerce.

There are a lot of ways the damage could have occurred, your photo is not clear enough for a definitive guess but likely a grinder was used to remove the majority of the obverse legends.

Not an error but an interesting curiosity.

Edited for spleging

You can't have a coin with a rim on only one side without it being damaged.
Value 5 cents.

Agree, post-strike damage. Not an error. Seems we've seen few other coins on the forum with similar damage the last couple months.

I swear to God....
That's God looking down from the clouds!
Very deep voice:
"Hey there you there down there!"

On the other hand, it makes me tempted think that it is very possibly, a very deliberate and very artful form of Post Mint Damage.

I would pull this coin out of a dealer's junk box in heartbeat. Could even be converted into a jewelry neck piece.

A damaged coin is only a face value coin. Spender.
