Hello,

I generally collect classic US coins, but am interested in getting a few of the America The Beautiful 5 oz silver coins. I'd like them in the box with COA, not slabbed. I don't have a price reference for these; could you suggest one? I've looked at past sales on ebay, but prices seem all over the place. Any tips would be appreciated.

Specifically, I'm looking at

Gettysburg
Grand Canyon
Sand Dunes
Harpers Ferry

Thanks

First of all...

Secondly, ebay past sales (sold) are a decent indication of aftermarket prices, including the box with COA.
That said, you could look at what these boxes were sold for on the US Mint site and go from there.

I would look at realized auction prices at HA or other auctions, ebay is top dollar retail. A lot of people here sell on ebay so they might be slightly biased. Overpriced.

You also have to eliminate the high and low prices when looking at ebay searches and make sure you check the boxes for both "completed" and "sold". This will give you a good idea of range. Patience will always get you a lower price.

For Gettysburg, I see a BIN that recently went for $190 (someone got a GREAT price) but based on the other sales I'd expect closer to $220-250. FWIW, Gettysburg went for $230 retail back in 2011. Good luck!
