Hi All.

I found this dime coin roll hunting. As you can hopefully see the one on the left looks very different from the other dimes in the roll.

Not sure what might be the explanation. Appreciate all input. Hope the pics are ok. I had to optimize twice to get them to load.

I think I know what your getting at. It would appear the images posted were taken with the camera's white balance decidedly warm. Would be great to see photos taken under natural light with a 'neutral' white balance. That way, perhaps we could respond more completely. Thanks.

This is the best I can do. Tried many ways but this is as good as I can get. Sorry if not helpful.

Looks to be environmental staining/toning/discolouration. Could even be a plating that has mostly worn off? Whatever it is, it's post mint damage I'm afraid.

They look to be roller lines of some sort, similar to what you see with the early 80's cents. I don't know much about dimes and tried to find something on the net about them but came up empty. They correspond the same way a Lincoln roller line occurs with the obverse running with the reverse but the rough texture has me perplexed, maybe just where it's a clad coin. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in.

When did they start plating clad Dimes? I was unaware of this. I thought a clad coin had a copper core sandwiched in-between nickel.

I would say environmental but it came from a new roll of dimes that all looked the same except for this one!
