1974 D MD Or DDO? If MD Please Explain

The date in the lower part of 9 is split and bulged top of 7 has 3 different lines on top and 4 is twisted for 2 o'clock to non not to mention the D also twisted. I do see the flat spots but a lot is still bulging..

That is called DDD not MD or DDO.

There is an issue with die wear and Machine Doubling on this one. If the reverse is looked at, it might show the extreme Machine Doubling on the reverse. Not a die variety. Why not? Well the die is not showing hub doubling. Just extreme die wear and strike distortion because of the looseness of the machine after the strike. Note the strong die scratches on the date area. There was also a large and small date this year.

There is not a premium extra for the large or small date as they are in equal numbers of both. (Most people didn't know there was this on that year.
