Happy Columbus Day! If you own a coin/banknote that features Christopher Columbus than post a picture or two! The only coin/banknote that I have with Columbus on it is my 1893 Columbian Half.  |

Can I post some medals etc.? I got a handful. Here is The Nina, The Pinta and The Santa Maria sailing. You can't see Columbus but he is on the Santa Maria.   Edited by TNG

Definitely an apropos thread! Thanks for starting! Here's a Columbian Exposition half dollar mounted as part of the Exposition's official "Columbus Day" badge:  Here's a medal based on the portrait of Columbus painted by Lorenzo Lotto; it has been cited as the reference for the Columbian Exposition half dollar. (I've flipped the image of the medal so that the orientation of its portrait matches the half dollar.)  Here's a medal licensed by the Congressionally-created US Columbus Quincentenary Jubilee Commission in 1992:   Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved.

I realize the day has passed, but I didn't figure it would hurt to post a few more Columbus images. First, a pair of Special Day badges from the World's Columbian Exposition - Chicago Day and Manhattan Day. They go along with the Columbus Day badge I previously posted.   Next is a 1992 proof commemorative medal for the 500th anniversary of Columbus' voyage; it mirrors the design of the original 1892 Columbian half dollar.
