Well I'm not a nickel expert, but from my research on Henning nickels not all of them have the same reverse or are overweight. This one fits what I am calling die 2, where the it is underweight and does not have the gap in the R of PLURIBUS. Or maybe it is a fake Henning? This nickel comes in at 4.79g, which is pretty close to the 4.85g for the known underweight Henning nickels. And pretty sure it is not silver so not just a removed mint mark. Additionally it has a worn obverse die showing heavy flow lines. The die markers for die 2 are listed as raised dots between the IN and GOD (clearly visible) and above the left side of building on the reverse (also clearly visible). So anyone with better knowledge than I should help clarify if I am getting this wrong, but I do believe this is a Henning. 1944 Jefferson nickel counterfeit - Henning die 2

Haven't a clue myself either but glad to see you're back sharing your finds.

The obverse has the Henning look, the reverse not as much.

The dot above the left side of the memorial seems like it confirms it as a Henning.

This is a Henning nickel for sure. The best way to know on this example is the raised dot in between the D on GOD and W on We.. it's a little weak but clearly there. Great example of the none looped R henning nickel

Looks good for a henning to me, very cool! Funny how collectible and valuable a counterfeit can be.

Another marker is the die crack on the reverse from the dome to the lettering. Nice Find!

Thanks for the great comments! I really like the couple Hennings I have as I just think the whole story is cool and that there are still some around. Been keeping my eye open on the old nickel lots I get for a non-1944 date with the loop R but so far blanking on those.
And thanks for those posting the known die markers for a Henning. That is something very useful!
Sun is starting to come up so TB has to get to sleep. Been a long night but just giving a quick check in. Fun bat fact, tonight all I caught were eastern red bats (Lasiurus borealis), which are actually orange and not red at all. Kinda like the bald eagle is not in fact bald.
