Looks like someone go into grandpa's collection. This is the best I have ever seen for a 1988 LMC. Very few circulation marks for a coin I got from a bankroll. Reverse has a nice die crack down the steps. Unfortunately, The die looked badly worn and left out much of the details.

Yes a nice die crack as you describe and in remarkably good condition. Will you save in a 2x2?

Very cool that you recognize a particular date, as looking better than what you normally find, zincolns are tough. I started what I called the "Ed System", based on what "Grumpy Ed", on another forum, had explained to me about how he would collect uncirculated coins in tubes, by year/mm. As time would go on and he filled the tubes, he would occasionally go through them and cull the lesser coins and eventually end up with a tube of really nice uncirculated coins. Just so you know, you will find, the early finds, may not be as nice as you thought they were but over time, you will hone your skills, as to what is nicer than normal and what is really nice. I'm going out of town for a few days but will add pics and links, as to what I'm referring to. Good start though.

The more time you spend roll searching, and the more rolls you search, the more higher grade memorial cents you'll find--all a function of volume and time. Over many years I've filled 4-5 tubes of AU58-MS65 memorial cents for each year and mint. Occasionally I go through them and unload the lesser examples and keep the very best.

I think that as more people pass and relatives get those coins that they have no interest in, they just dump them back into circulation. This was my first real good example. Looks like I'll have to start a tube for these. I think they are worth saving.
