1916 D Barber Quarter Counterstamp? Chop Mark?

After a closer look, it appears the marks have a deliberate shape... maybe a counterstamp or chop mark. All feedback welcome Report this Post to the Staff

ExoGuy Pillar of the Community United States 4422 Posts	Posted 10/19/2021 11:07 pm The tiny "S" suggests to me that these marks may have been punched by a jeweler. The "S" commonly designated silver. The other may be a jeweler's touchmark that were applied to silverware and other products for curb appeal and/or to designate inside info on the product's origin. Maverick marks like these don't typically enhance a coin's value. Report this Post to the Staff
