I recently acquired this Texas commemorative half dollar. It came in the capital plastics holder pictured.
Would appreciate any advice on whether I should keep it in the holder, take it out and transfer it to an air-tite or if it just doesn't really matter either way.
For me, it'd be cool if over the long-term the CP holder would tone the coin, etc. I just don't know anything about these holders.
Thanks for your help.

The Capital Plastics holder is inert acrylic; the holder itself will not directly cause the coin to tone. Any toning seen on the coin will be the result of the environment in which it is stored. Capital Plastics holders like the one shown are not airtight - coins stored in them can be impacted by what's in the air around them.

If you want to better protect against potential toning reactions due to the coin's surrounding environment, an Air-Tite holder with the insert ring would offer better protection. If you want it to tone...one option would be to store it in a sulfur-rich environment.

Nice little 1937 Texas!

I think I can see an "S" mintmark . kinda faint though?

Thanks! I think I'm going to keep it in the CP holder.
It's a P, although the little fuzziness there hints at a mintmark.

I like CP holders. I have a couple of coins in them, and think they're "classy".
One of my favorites is a 1906 Maundy Set in a (I think) custom made holder.

Without an image I don't know if your holder is custom or not, but Capital Plastics did make standard Maundy Set holders for a number of years; they were available with either a black or white insert.
