Received my S and D Morgan's today. 3 each. All were fine except this one.
Yes, I know the image is blurry but I have to use my scanner for coin photos and the thickness of the capsule puts it out of focus but I wasn't going to open the capsule. I think you can see the marks on the coin to get an idea of the issues:
Scuffed field in front of her mouth Scratches under her eye and on her cheeck A small round hole where you see that black spot
Tried to start a return but got a message "not available, call customer service". Won't go into that but couldn't get through tonight so try again I guess.
So, if you bought multiples, check them all (not that you wouldn't) as they want a return filed within 7 days... if you can get through to them.
Oh, how I wish it could have been a double die or something ; - )
Darn that sucks. A few others have damage on their's also. Mint presses strike these at who knows how many per minute and robots package them. Quality control seems hit and miss. Mint policy is to refund not replace. So if you send it back you won't get another. You have to decide if it's worth keeping. Since these were sellouts I'd think you could still make some profit if you sold it as is, honestly telling buyers it has issues.
I appreciate the response but I have 3 more coming from a friend. Rather have a refund than take a loss trying to resell a defective coin I don't want. You want it?
The coins are randomly put in. The caps were loose. The coin holding position seems to be irrelevant. Sometimes the box is flipped vertically.
I felt a disgruntled employee energy upon touching my boxes. It feels like the employees don't care. Everyone wraps it, slaps it in, tosses the box, however they want.
The morale at the US Mint appears to be lacking. I can only imagine what the fullfillment "environment" looks like.
I would think of it as not very disappointing at all, why not make a whole new thread of new vams for these, send these to vamworld.com to see if there should be new VAM varieties made...
Quote: Makes me wonder... All the pre-orders promising MS70 examples. Hope ebay is ready for a few pre-order refunds.
It makes me jealous of their flex tbh. Take this seller for example. If I had access to all those MS70 to resell as a complete set I would be rich. We were limited to 3 a piece yet they have endless sets of 6.
Now we know who got most of the coins rather than the honest "limit of 3" buyers.
I've only received my 3 San Francisco coins. Each appear to be flawless with no fibers inside the airtite. Packaging unremarkable. Three coins in their black boxes with no packing material or wrap appeared to be sufficient. I've received emails that my remaining coins have all been shipped this week.
Do you suppose the Mint kept back 10,000 of each in reserve in order to replace damaged or missing coins? (sark)

But now we have a person with a HR background in charge of the Mint......
