I do not really collect these but I have a few things I have picked up through the years I would like to learn a bit more about...

This one I believe has 2 varieties? Thin key verses thick key in the seal?

Nice Meredith Fractional.
I don't collect Fractionals but I do have one of these. I have the green seal version in UNC. it's hard to tell the condition of your note by the photos, but by the fading of the seal, VF sounds about right.

SteveInTampa nice note! Is the green seal the rarer of the two?

Does anyone know anything about the thin key verses thick key varieties?

What I know is from general observation and checking the population report at PMG. The green seal version (Fr.1264) was printed first and has the fewest survivors. The red seal version with the long thin key (Fr.1265) was printed second and is the second most popular and the red seal version (Fr.1266) with the short thick key is the most popular and has more graded than the first two combined. The OP's note appears to be an Fr.1266. I've got some images to help. The top note is an Fr.1265 (thin) and the bottom is an Fr.1266 (thick). Hope that helps.

Personally, I prefer the later issued Fractional notes (3rd, 4th and 5th issue) that have signatures. But that's just my opinion.

Steve, that is some excellent information! I did not realize there was that many different versions of it. I will add the Fr.1266 designation to my notes on it!
I appreciate the effort!
