ive looked at the half in person and it seems to look in decent shape. the picture and lighting kinda makes the coin look worse than it really does my phone camera darkens ever little bump or line in the coin. but I wanted to know how much the cloudiness and splotchy toning on the back of the coin will affect its grade? would it bring the technical grade down or just eye appeal? thanks! also I'm pretty sure the fingerprint looking toning on the bottom of the coin is just odd toning.

Too much "noise" on the coin. Probably would end up as a DETAILS coin.

Agree, reverse suggests an impaired proof.

Coin needs some conservation ( easily done ) To say that this is worth just melt is laughable . A proof 63 would easily bring 40 to 50 USD . Was this found with the quarter you posted in another query ? If so show the rest of the proof set . Hazing on US proof silver coins is quite common and as previously stated EASILY removed . The Coin Conservation services ( ie NCS) are not cheap but you can get the same results for little!

And in my opinion . The owner can send it to me and his cheque for 50 is in the mail . There is nothing wrong with that coin save the haze which is easily safely removed . Just saying !

I tend to agree with Pacificoin here, the haze can be taken care of with a very quick dip.

So you don't believe that peppered area to the left of the eagle is evidence of contact marks (impairment)?

To be honest that looks more like die flow or just haze to me. These are very poor quality scans so I could be wrong. If they are surface damage then I would agree it's a details coin.

like I dont want to sound like I just trying ti save my coin but. there is 0 marks on this coin. some hairlines but no contact marks at all. if you had the coin in your hand you would see it. again sorry for the crappy pic but the haze really throws people off in the pic. also the dots on the cheek. most of these benjamins have it look at the PCGS photgrade. I think its some type of die problem. some coins that have the same amount of dots and what look like marks on the cheek have graded PF67 from PCGS. I dont think its in that high of grade but if you saw it in hand its atleast PF65. but yea I gotta find away to deal with the foggy/cloudiness. also I can see how the picture may make it look alot worse than it looks. like I said in the description.
