I know 1915 and 1916 wheats have nice strikes and liked the beard detail on this one, but the reverse color's odd. Coin in general is kind of odd. Think it might be cleaned. What do you guys think?

I would say its an older metal detector find - dug many Wheaties with that general color out of sandy loam dirt...

Virtually no wear, and in fact quite attractive.
Rest in Peace

Much clearer photos of the key marker areas would be needed, but I'm not so sure this isn't an impaired 1916 proof, or a business strike from the proof dies.

...That'd be something.

I'll see if I'm capable of getting good enough macro pics when I can.

Still interested on if others think it's a cleaned/details coin or not.

Cool coin! The reverse was probably exposed to something long ago. TPG would details it but it's not even high enough of a grade to bother. I like it though!

not sure it was a dug coin as I would expect to see at least some type of hairlines on the surfaces from a cleaning. I do think it may have been improperly stored. probably would grade straight. technically looks AU50 or 53. not a huge fan of the eye appeal though

AU-55 but not sure it would get "details". Seems pretty dark so might have some surface ED.

The Lincoln Cent was redone in 1916. Looks 55 to me.

Yea, kinda dark. They may say details.
