Hello! I just received my email from ANACS that my submission of Buffaloes has been graded. One is them is a 1934-D they attributed as a "Small D". They attributed it themselves, not something I had requested, because as this points out, I dunno anything about it. My search of the interwebs hasn't returned much. Anyone know much about this? Is this common? Is it a variety that has a following? Or just a quirk and a small story, but generally worth what any other 1934-D would otherwise be worth?

Appreciate the help!

In 1934 there was a mintmark style change from the "small" D to the larger D seen through 1938. I'm not familiar with any specifics as to exact mintage numbers of each MM style, but I've never seen a premium attached to either one.

1934-D is a tough one, impossible to find fully struck examples, and we'll struck mid-high grade MS will typically bring a premium. Still one I've been hunting for for my set.

Just checked with Variety Plus.
They say the Small D is scarcer than the Large D but has not attracted much in the way of collector attentio.n
