I have recently started searching Roosevelt dimes, mainly for silver. I seem to find one silver dime per $250 box. To date, all of my finds have been from the 1960s, and most of those are from 1964.

It is surprising that silver dimes are still out there. I am curious about what other people are finding. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Well when my mom comes back home she gives me some of her change to search through. So once as usually I got those coins and on top of them was a very nice EF 1946 roosevelt with some beautiful golden tone, since I had been just staring collecting I thought that was a bad thing. So I went to the bathroom got my "coin" toothbrush and cleaned it. I messed up a lot of coins that way. The bottom line is that I got only one silver roosevelt so far.

I worked at a bank for 4 months over the summer. I pulled 3 silver dimes, 1 1964 half dollar, and 7 40% kennedys.

Years of searching dimes: nada 1 ...now halves are a different story.

I roll search Roosevelts, but only unopened ones and I look for registry quality stuff for my set!

I searched a box of dimes once. Found one silver. There wasn't enough variety to keep me interested.

My ultimate goal is to assemble a set of the silver issues from circulation. Has anyone done this recently? What do you think the chances of this happening are?

I think that unless you open a whole lot (millions!!) of rolls, it ain't happening. But, as the economy is going further and further south, more and more "non-coin" people are cashing in their change at Coinstars. Who knows anymore.
