Most of the lead-style counterfeits I run across are from much older coins, but everyone once in a while a modern shows up. This one has just a little bit of a ring to it so could be a lead alloy. Pretty beat up like most such things made of soft metal.

It is probably just someone practicing doing poured metal molds.

I always wonder the history of coins like this. I still have about 20 more counterfeits to get to from my last lot buy, but most are older or foreign. It's when I find a lead Jefferson nickel or similar that I just can't figure out why.
