Indeed, a large date it is. Try a google image search for 'cent 1982 d date'. Compare the photos which appear.

Probably the most asked question on any coin forum and I have never seen a genuine copper 1982D small date yet. The chances of winning the lottery are far greater than finding a genuine one. Your mistake was watching YouTube, that is a no no when it comes to coins

To JimmyD, indeed, , watching youtube from a new collector is not a good idea unless you have decent knowledge of the hobby and can sort out better thoughts. I have coin collected for about 20 years and nowadays I do watch youtube at times to see what others have found and how I can learn more. To me, it depends on the uploader and content, and combining that with legit coin websites like this one to get a better picture of topics. Now this is indeed a large date here as everyone said. Asking us about coins is a great idea to get an overall point if view.

The very limited YouTube I've watched regarding coins are bunk. Maybe I've never ran across a decent content creator.

I just watched a good YouTube video on wizzing coins and how to identify them, I don't usually turn to YouTube as there is a lot of mis information. For me I just look at the loop on the 2 to see if it's small or large date, they are rather easy to spot.

Stick to us here and read past postings for all the coin education you'll ever need! Utube is not a good place.

(btw, rather than "blanchet" before minting, the blank is known as a planchet, it's also not Suzanne "Planchette" or Cate Blanchette)
