Hi,
This my first post here.
I have recently purchased a medal and the only information I can find is the description of its auction listing.
https://elive-auction.de/lose/10815...&seite=index
So I wonder if there is any clue to further information, for example creator, purpose, age, origin etc.
The fashion of the gentleman and hairstyle of the ladies of the "veni" side seems to be 16th century.
However the precision of the medal means probably it is much newer.
The side of the medal is perfectly smooth without any mark.

Nice medal. It is made by the German medalist Martin Brunner (from Nuremberg), who lived 1659-1725. His signature MB can be seen at the bottom of the obverse. He worked for several European royal courts. More information about him (in German) is found here: https://www.nuernberg.museum/artist...unner-martin

Thank you very much erafjel for the information!
Now I have a bit more clue to follow, I will check the reference mentioned on his page.
The artistic style, story telling attracted me as much as its less obvious nature.
Clearly it is not for commemoration, and probably not for religious purpose, also perhaps not for advertisement as no specific name is mentioned.
Maybe it is as straight forward as the image on it? Related to the most ancient trade just like the famous ancient Roman tokens?
Anyway, information is always appreciated.
