This is just another counterfeit quarter, but it's in pretty good shape and I thought the macro of the coin surface was pretty interesting so decided to post this one. 1930 Standing Liberty quarter counterfeit - with details

Very nice dendritic structure on that close-up!

Well, these counterfeit coins are interesting on their history of course, and reminds me of my contemporary counterfeit 1929 Walking Liberty half dollar post a few days ago.

I also enjoy these posts, especially of the contemporary circulating counterfeits, which I assume this was?
Not sure what these are costing you, but I bet that this collection you're building has one of the higher interest to cost ratios compared to many collections that we pursue.

Agree, these threads on counterfeits are particularly interesting.

Thanks for the great comments! I suspect that saying the interest to cost ratio is higher on these is correct, as the coins themselves don't generally cost very much. But I have always said that this is likely the one part of my entire collection that I will lose money on, as it would be troublesome to sell it off.

That's an interesting background pattern over DOLLAR. I found a Lincoln Cent recently (1920?) that I was going to post with a similar pattern. I'll have to find some time to add a thread.
