Is this what they call the copper dime? I thought it was a penny at first because it's copper color around the rim.

There's no nickel or silver color on the rim.

. I do not think so. Looks like environmental damage to me. Use the search box upper left of page,we get this question a lot.

I agree with John1. Environmental issues.

The weight of the coin is an important diagnostic for missing a clad layer.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Typical environmental damage. May have been lying around outside or buried for a while and found with a metal detector.

Note the edge red color is the copper color. On the obverse, those are just stains. (Not red in color) Red as in the color of the copper cents.

On your coin the color is from a staining on the surface of the coin. Will go away in circulation on the higher devices. Thus showing the coin is normal, just stained.
