First off, this is not my coin. I bid on the auction but didn't win it.

The ebay seller called it a clashed die. It does look as through there is some "ghosting" of Lincoln's bust on the reverse, but I'm wondering if the reverse wasn't possibly struck through something or struck with a very worn die.

Your thoughts on this interesting cent are most welcome.

It looks like it's struck from a very tired die pair.

I guess so, but never seen anything quite like that. Great value for the price, imo.

Die subsidence. The die was pushed well past its life expectency.

Certainly a coin I'd like to own at that price!

Thanks for the quick responses.

I was the high bidder . . . with one second left.

You know how that goes.

It is an interesting coin. Aren't mid-1920s D and S cents often weakly struck?
