1945 S Lincoln Wheat Cent Doubled Die - DDO-004

Yeah, everyone likes the strong doubled die. Everyone likes the rare doubled dies. But how many can find some love for one like this? It's barely there, and far less of a thing than many I've submitted and gotten the dreaded "too minor" reply.

But, here is what I suspect is a rare DDO since it's gotta be invisible on anything but the best grade coins and even then you pretty much can't see it without spinning the coin around until the light hits it just right.

So how did I actually find it? Pretty much when going through a BU roll you sort of memorize the thickness of all the devices and look for anything a bit thicker. Often it's just a later die stage, but thicker can mean a doubled die. In this case I saw this while scanning down a line of 1945-S coins and the 9 looked just a little bit thicker. Put it under the scope and saw the minute doubling. Looked it up and actually is a CONECA listed variety. I generally do not use arrows on photos to show things, but in this case they may help.
