1956 D Wheat Back Penny. In God We Trus [?]

The obverse of the coin appears to be missing the letter t at the end of the word trust. Wanting to get some opinions on whether this is an actual error or if it has just wore off over time. Bumpkin Pillar of the Community United States 509 Posts	Posted 11/29/2021 12:50 am Welcome to the forum. The last T (or should I say missing T) in TRUST is caused by a greased filled die. This is a very common occurrence and is not a mint error. Die grease fills the voids of the die face and thus causes the letters (or devices) to not be struck on a coin. Very common on all denominations of a coin and does not carry a premium with a minor example like yours. Still a very neat find though.. Report this Post to the Staff

There might be a debate on this but I don't consider them errors. Die Polishing which produces Grease Filled Dies are part of the minting process whereas an error is usually a one time event.
