Hmm , every rivet clear , date bold , nice toes & ? Very nice reverse except for a hit in left field at around 9:00 .
AU-55+ even though she doesn't exhibit any luster .

Superb strike. such strong details and eye appeal in my opinion. I want to say AU58 but perhaps AU55 due to lack of luster. Congrats on a great pickup.

Normally I'd agree, but I can see virtually no wear at all.

I wonder if that obverse rim crack lines up with the reverse crack through the N of UNITED.

I keep coming back to this thread to study this coin. Perhaps I am way off base but my gut is telling me that something isn't right. The strong strike and full head are awesome. Then I start to study the obverse and I see numerous areas which appear to be pimples. Around the olive branch, between the shield drapery and letter R, folds of the gown at the kneecap, ankle, and other folds. On the reverse I see some too between the wings, between the A and M of AMERICA, and above the R of QUARTER. Odd that it doesn't exhibit some luster. The dirty finish resembles that which I've see on some fake Morgans. Sorry to sound so cynical but I've been duped before with pimples and I have to treat everything as suspect until I can prove otherwise. Can we get a weight on this specimen?

We'll know soon enough, because the coin is on its way to PCGS. I didn't weigh it before it went out, sorry. But I got no inkling when handling it that it was anything but genuine. I think your suspicion is misplaced, but again, we will know soon enough.

I will say that I took the photos in full sunlight. At normal illumination the coin is way darker than it appears here. I've asked for PCGS restoration services.

Fingers crossed! Hoping all the best news for you. When we view coins magnified to the size of an ashtray the mind can see things that you wouldn't notice under normal magnification. Please keep us informed.

I sort of had that feeling too, but I think in the long run it's a good coin. The color does have that newly faked from China look though, totally see that too. The overall strike however, looks genuine to me.

I can see both scenarios but I sure do hope it's genuine .
IMHO eye appeal is 9/10 .
