S mints but closer look through my loupe it looks suspiciously like an s or a d punched mark though can't find anything on it....... thoughts.... sorry in advance if some are blurry. There I one with an actual s mark and all the l three together... thanks ... Sometimes this looks like something that it can't be: When the post breaks off below the fields, then the void left there on the die, will fill in with the coin stock, this making it look like it is taller than the mintmark. (note top image) if it were an over mintmark issue, it would not be taller than the mintmark. But on the same level or slightly lower than a mintmark punching that was not continued: Note the S over a 'D'. Note the level is lower than the mintmark? Because the punching was not pursued, then it will always be lower than the raised mintmark. CoopHome: What is a broken post on the mintmark/date closed areas?
