1983 D possibly rpm-002 or Die Deterioration? My pictures are not the best (getting a new phone here in a few days). Trying to learn a little more about MM now.

Looks like MD to me with the copper plating splitting at the base of the D. I can see a hint of zinc there on the right side of the D

Your Cent does not appear to be an RPM. I agree with Dearborn in that what you are seeing is split plating. If you are getting into mm's and RPM's, the best advice I can give you is to take notice of the EXACT location of the mint mark on your finds and compare its location and positioning to the numbers in the date of the known RPM's.

The hint is the gray showing through the split plating.
